Trunk-or-Treat

The youth group at St. Mark's has an annual Halloween Carnival with a Haunted House. This year it was agreed upon to add a Trunk-or-Treat. All the proceeds went to feeding the poor. The event was a HUGE success. We estimated that we had over 225 kids go through the Trunk-or-Treat alone. For those of you who have never heard of a Trunk-or-Treat, it is a safe way for kids to trick-or-treat. People decorate their trunks of their cars and dress up in costume. The kids go around to the trunks and ask for candy. Here are a few pictures of the trunks.

This was another winner. This couple use to do Haunted Houses and stuff so they had all the bells and whistles. She also dressed up like a witch and talked to the kids as they came up. At night everything lit up. It was really neat.
I loved this one because it looks like he is really coming out of the trunk.

This was a really cool trunk. The kids reached into the mouth to get their candy. It was one of the winners.

This was one of Darci's trunks. I thought it was extremely clever. The squirrel and the chipmunk are protecting their nuts.

This was my trunk. Darci and I used the puppets and puppet props to through this one together. Luckily I had my blue blanket in my trunk.

An Addiction...Not For Long

In high school my Junior year I gave up pop for my New Year's Resolution. It worked out great for me. For 2 years I had no pop nor did it appeal to me to have it. Once I got to college I realized that the late night studying and early morning classes took a toll on me. So I found pop and coffee to be my saviors. Now I'm catching myself drinking four cans a day. Which for me is not always a good thing, because by 8 o'clock I'm ready for bed. So today I drank my last pop. I will let you know how it is going. It might be difficult but I'm willing to give it a try. I trying to better myself, and by working out and eating right I hope to get back to the size I was my senior year of college.

Carrie Underwood

Paul and I went Sunday night to our first concert together. Carrie Underwood and Billy Currington were awesome. The concert blew us away. Did I mention the seats were 10 rows from the stage.

State Champs!!!

The Wahoo Warrior softball team is state champs. They are the first girl's team from Wahoo to win a state championship. The first round at state we played Ashland and beat them 10-2. Thursday morning we played Cass County Central. This game was our toughest. Cass County was beating us 4-3 and we were home. It was the final inning and we batted last. Maddie hit a double which scored 1. Then Aubrey stepped up to the plate and scored Morgan which gave us the win. Our third game was against Friend. In the 3rd inning we scored 3, which gave us the win. Finally Friday came around and we faced Ashland who came up through the losers bracket. It was a battle of the hitting. Our girls team saying was finish it. And on Friday, they Finished It. I am so proud of my sister and the rest of the girls on the Wahoo softball team. They had a great season and it was a blast watching them.

District Softball

Well Wahoo girls softball did it again. They are going to state for the 2nd year in a row. My sister Kayla played 3rd base and had an awesome first 2 games. She made some great catches and had a really good bunt. Yesterday, the girls played Bishop Neumann and beat them 10-0. After sitting around they played their second game against Arlington and beat them 11-1. Today they played Arlington and beat them 6-0 to win the District Championship. I was so proud of Kayla. She was nervous but she really stepped up to the challenge.

iPad...

Well I told myself that I was done spending money and that I would save my money for the next big thing. But then my job changed and I decided to go ahead and get it. Since I am in charge of all new and old forms of communication at the church, I decided this would be more than a perfect investment. I have already found numerous apps to download that will help in my ministry.

Here are a few apps that I have found to be useful. Evernote is the first one I downloaded. It allows you to take notes during meetings, brainstorming, and to do lists. Flipboard is also I really new one that I found. It is your own magazine. You personalize it with facebook and twitter and it flips through your photos, status updates and news just like a magazine. It is really cool.
